Abstrakt: Pozycja państw kontynentu afrykańskiego w stosunkach międzynarodowych na początku XXI wieku Celem podjętym w niniejszym artykule jest analiza pozycji państw afrykańskich w stosunkach międzynarodowych na początku XXI wieku, w odniesieniu do krajów położonych zarówno w północnej, jak i południowej części kontynentu. Za najważniejsze czynniki kształtujące tę pozycję w wyznaczonym okresie w obranej perspektywie badawczej uznano: uczestnictwo Afryki w międzynarodowych stosunkach gospodarczych, wyzwania związane z poziomem rozwoju gospodarczo‑społecznego państw, powszechność zjawiska upadania państwa na tym obszarze, poziom integracji regionalnej i subregionalnej oraz zainteresowanie i zaangażowanie podmiotów zewnętrznych w regionie. Determinanty te, jak można stwierdzić, są ze sobą ściśle powiązane. Słowa kluczowe: Afryka, stosunki międzynarodowe, państwa najsłabiej rozwinięte, państwa upadłe   Abstract: The position of the states of the African continent in the international relations at the beginning of the 21st century The aim of this article is to analyze the position of African countries in the international relations at the beginning of the 21st century, referring to both (northern and southern) parts of the continent. The participation of Africa in the international economic relations, challenges related to the level of economic and social development of the states, the widespread phenomenon of collapsing states, the level of regional and subregional integration as well as the interest and involvement of external entities in the region were considered as the most important factors shaping this position in the selected period. These determinants are also closely related to each other.Key words: Africa, international relations, least developed countries, failed states
