At the end of the 18th century, there were changes in the Roman Catholic Church system in the territory of Belarus and Lithuania. It was a time when consistories in the Russian Empire, including Mogilev and Minsk, were established. These institutions performed an administrative function; in addition, they were clerical courts in dioceses and the archdiocese of Mogilev. Today the archival material is preserved in the fonds number 937 and 1781 of the National Historical Archives of Belarus. The archives of the consistories were arranged and described during the existence of the consistory of Mogilev. Registry books were included later when the collection had already been in storage. Most of the archival materials of the Mogilev consistory are special documents reflecting the specifics of managing this consistory. These documents also characterize the communication between various people, priests and representatives of other denominations. The material presents a wide range of documents characterizing the activity of the consistories. These sources can be useful for the researchers of the general history, the history of the Church, genealogy, auxiliary sciences, law, social sciences, archival studies etc.
