The aim of the article is to present a theoretical analysis of individual differences in the functional structure of actions. As a starting point, the formal, modal, and functional structure of actions proposed in Tadeusz Tomaszewski’s Theory of Action are shown. Then, the distinction between auxiliary and basic actions is outlined, with reference to sources in classical works on neurophysiology and ethology. The types of auxiliary actions – as they are conceptualised within the framework of the Theory of Action, i.e. preparatory, controlling, corrective, and protective – are also described. Next, the results of research on the relationship between reactivity and the differences in how people perform actions, as seen by the Regulatory Theory of Temperament, are outlined. A discussion is also presented regarding the concept of “style of action” and the formal status of individual differences in the functional structure of actions. Finally, a conclusion is drawn on the need to determine whether these differences are characterized by transsituational consistency and temporal stability. The importance for further research in developing questionnaire tools, to study individual differences in the share of auxiliary and basic actions in activity, is emphasised.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie teoretycznej analizy różnic indywidualnych w funkcjonalnej strukturze czynności. Jako punkt wyjścia zaprezentowano charakterystykę struktury czynności pod względem formalnym, modalnym i funkcjonalnym, zaproponowaną w Teorii Czynności Tadeusza Tomaszewskiego. Następnie omówiono rozróżnienie na czynności pomocnicze i zasadnicze, z uwzględnieniem w oparciu o źródła pochodzące z klasycznych prac dotyczących neurofizjologii i etologii. Przybliżono także zakładane w Teorii Czynności rodzaje czynności pomocniczych: przygotowawcze, kontrolne, korekcyjne i zabezpieczające. Następnie opisano wyniki badań nad zakładanymi w Regulacyjnej Teorii Temperamentu związkami reaktywności z różnicami między ludźmi w sposobie wykonywania czynności. Przedstawiono także dyskusję dotyczącą pojęcia „styl działania” i formalnego statusu różnic indywidualnych w funkcjonalnej strukturze działania. Na koniec sformułowano wniosek o potrzebie ustalenia czy różnice te charakteryzują się transsytuacyjną stałością i stabilnością czasową. Zwrócono także uwagę na znaczenie dla dalszych badań prac nad opracowaniem narzędzi kwestionariuszowych do badania różnic indywidualnych pod względem udziału czynności pomocniczych w stosunku do czynności zasadniczych w działaniu
