Socjologiczne badania nad społeczeństwem obywatelskim wskazują na pozytywną zależność pomiędzy religijnością a kapitałem społecznym. Robert Putnam w swojej książce Bowling Alone stwierdza, że wspólnoty oparte na wierze pozostają tak ważnymi rezerwuarami kapitału społecznego w Ameryce. Niniejszy artykuł, w oparciu o wyniki reprezentatywnych badań CBOS, podejmuje analizę zależności pomiędzy religijnością i kapitałem społecznym na gruncie polskim oraz prezentuje wpływ wskaźników zaangażowania religijnego Polaków na ich aktywność społeczną.

Sociological research results on civil society suggest a positive correlation between religiosity and social capital. Robert Putnam in his book Bowling Alone states that the faith communities in which people worship together are arguably the single most important repository of social capital in America. This article, based on the results of representative CBOS research, presents the analysis of correlation between religiosity and social capital on the example of Polish society and analyzes the impact of religious commitment of Poles on their social activity.
