  • assistant professor at the Department of Aesthetics of the Institute of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. He studied mathematics, musicology and philosophy in Cracow, Minneapolis and Bonn, gaining his MSc in Mathematics in 1983 (Cracow), his MA in Philosophy in 1987 (Minneapolis) and his PhD in Philosophy in 1997 (Cracow). His main areas of research are music philosophy, aesthetics and the theory of signs and symbols. He is author of the book Znaczenie muzyki - znaczenia w muzyce [The significance of music - meanings in music] (Kraków, 1999) and editor of Filozofia muzyki. Studia [The philosophy of music. Studies] (Kraków, 2003).
