assistant professor at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. In 2006 he received his PhD from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow (Związki między refleksją filozoficzną a twórczością muzyczną we wczesnym romantyzmie niemieckim [The connections between philosophy and music in early German romanticism]). He specialises in the aesthetics of nineteenth- and twentieth-century music, particularly comparative studies concerning music, the arts and philosophy. He is author of Krzywe zwierciadło proroka. Rzecz o ‘Księżycowym Pierrocie’ Arnolda Schönberga [The distorting mirror of a prophet. On Arnold Schönberg's Pierrot lunaire] (Katowice, 2002).
