W artykule autorzy podejmują namysł nad fazami ewolucji poglądów Dietricha Bonhoeffera na temat Kościoła i jego roli w życiu pojedynczych jego członków oraz w kontekście etycznego dziedzictwa reformacji. W Bonhoefferowskiej eklezjologii można wyróżnić trzy etapy, pogłębiające jego wizję Kościoła. W pierwszym z nich Kościół definiowany jest jako duchowa wspólnota wiernych, poza którą niemożliwe jest zbawienie. W fazie drugiej teolog kładzie nacisk na grzeszność człowieka, jako członka Kościoła. Uznanie jej stanowi podstawę dla przemiany, jaka może dokonać się w jednostce za sprawą przyjęcia w siebie Chrystusa. Trzeci etap to wkroczenie w świat spraw przedostatecznych w pełnej odpowiedzialności za dokonywane wybory poszczególnych członków wspólnoty eklezjalnej.  Kościół, jakim widział go Bonhoeffer, miał wspierać się na mocnych filarach: na wolności, osobistej odpowiedzialności, naśladowaniu Chrystusa, miłości bliźniego, na sakramentach i Ewangelii. W tym aspekcie Bonhoeffer był wiernym kontynuatorem programu Reformacji.

The paper’s authors undertake the reflection on the stages of the evolution of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s views on the Church and its role as it is played in the lives of its singular members and in the context of the Reformation’s ethical heritage. One can distinguish among three stages of the Bonhoefferian ecclesiology, deepening his vision of the Church. As far as the first one is considered, the Church is defined as the spiritual community of believers, outside of which salvation is impossible. At the second stage the German theologian accentuates the sinfulness of man as a member of the Church. Its recognition constitutes the basis for the transformation that can take place in the human individual due to accepting Christ into oneself. The third stage is stepping into the world of „before-final” matters in the full responsibility for the choices made by particular members of the ecclesial community. The Church, as Bonhoeffer saw it, was supposed to support itself on strong pillars: on freedom, personal responsibility, imitating Christ, neighbourly love, on sacraments and Gospel. In this aspect Bonhoeffer was the faithful continuator of the Reformation program.

Im Artikel reflektieren die Autoren einzelne Entwicklungsphasen der Ansichten von Dietrich Bonhoeffer über die Kirche und ihre Rolle im Leben ihrer einzelnen Mitglieder sowie im Kontext des ethischen Erbes der Reformation. In der Ekklesiologie Bonhoeffers kann man drei Etappen unterscheiden, in welchen seine Sicht der Kirche vertieft wird. In der ersten wird die Kirche als eine spirituelle Gemeinschaft der Glaubenden definiert, außer der es kein Heil gibt. In der zweiten Phase betont der Theologe die Sündhaftigkeit des Menschen als eines Gliedes der Kirche. Die Annahme dieser Sündhaftigkeit ist die Grundlage der Umkehr, die im Einzelnen durch die innerliche Annahme Christi geschieht. Die dritte Etappe bildet der Eintritt in die Welt der vorletzten Dinge in der vollen Verantwortung für die durch einzelne Mitglieder der kirchlichen Gemeinschaft getroffenen Entscheidungen. Die Kirche, wie sie von Bonhoeffer gesehen wurde, sollte auf festen Pfeilern ruhen: auf der Freiheit, der persönlichen Verantwortung, der Nachfolge Christi, der Nächstenliebe, auf den Sakramenten und dem Evangelium. In diesem Aspekt war Bonhoeffer ein treuer Sukzessor der Reformation.
