The article presents syntactic and semantic analysis of a lexical item 'ot' on a background of contemporary Polish lexicography. 'Ot' represents a grammatical class of parenthetic asyntagmatics. It is a deictic and metatextual phrase. It confirms that the given utterance is true and indicates that according to a speaker there is nothing in the utterance that should be noticed by the hearer.
