The objective of this study is to analyse the relationship between gender and organised religion in interwar Czechoslovakia. Central focus will be given to the Catholic Church due to its consistent dominant position in terms of the population’s faith. However, we will also look at other Christian churches, and in particular organised citizens without a faith who perceived themselves as a real alternative to Christian churches. The resultant comparison shows what form of gender relations were dominant, who shared them and whether there were any alternative interpretations. Some focus is also given over to the issue of celibacy.
