The paper provides an analysis of the age structure and official first names of 699 men living in the colonies of Stara Tura in the Trencin region, West Slovakia. Most men were born in 1950's. 90 distinct names have been found in one time, the most frequent of which are Jan, Milan and Jaroslav. The name Jan is still popular (13,6 % of all men), though since 1980's it no longer occupies the first position.
