The review of the literature on small firm growth brings to the conclusion there exists very little empirical research that adopts an integrated approach to find out the relationship between internal firm factors and enterprise growth. The study identifies three sets of factors (owner/manager characteristics, enterprise characteristics and strategic orientation factors) as key pillars on which further research should be based. The paper provides a special framework for further analysis of determinants of the small firm growth in any country
