In this paper the place in the Russia's geopolitical consciousness which peoples and countries from Balkan region occupy are presented. Besides, the geopolitical and geocultural image of Russia in consciousness of peoples from its region are also taken into account. The paper puts the theoretical aspects on the scientific concept “geopolitical consciousness” and gives accents to its practical consequence on the example of geopolitical priorities of Russia and Balkan countries. The author emphasises that each subject on political map disposes its own geopolitical consciousness, which appears and develops in the space and time under the influence of different objective condition and numerousness idealistic perceptions. These problems are presented in the light of dynamic relations Russia – Balkan region from the end of XVIII century until at present. The main attention is directed towards changes in Russia’s approaches towards the Balkan region countries after the break of the Eastern block. In that period Russia was withdrawn from great geoplitics in the Balkans. After 2000 Russia gradually returns to its position in the region thanks to export of energy row. Therefore, at present the Balkans are noticed in the light of the Kremlin geoeconomic interests. Apart from these tendencies, traditional panslavistic dispositions in perceiving the Balkans peoples in Russia's geopolitical consciousness are preserved. Although The Russophile ideas are traditional for large social-political groups in Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, nowadays all these countries are integrated and have aspirations to join into Euro- Atlantes structures.
