Podczas badań archeologicznych prowadzonych w 2011 r. przez dr Barbarę Stolpiak z IP UAM w trakcie budowy nowoczesnej strefy rekreacji dziecięcej na potrzeby uczniów Specjalnego Ośrodka Szkolno-Wychowawczego dla Dzieci Niewidomych oraz mieszkańców powiatu poznańskiego, na terenie wokół dawnego klasztoru cysterek w Owińskach pozyskano 457 fr. kafli. Pozyskiwany w trakcie badań archeologicznych materiał kaflowy jest przeważnie mocno zniszczony i pochodzi z tzw. warstw zasypiskowych. Z tego też względu główną przesłanką do datowania może być charakterystyczne dla danej epoki zdobienie płytki licowej. Wszystkie kafle, jakie pozyskano w Owińskach wykonano z gliny żelazistej, wypalonej na barwę ceglastą. Sporo z nich nosi ślady użytkowania w postaci okopcenia wnętrza komory. W całości zachował się tylko XVIII-wieczny kafle gzymsowy narożny. Na tylnych stronach płytek licowych kilku kafli XVI - XVII-wiecznych odnotowano obecność odcisków tkaniny. Osobną grupę w zbiorze stanowią ułamki kafli naczyniowych, w liczbie 17 fr. Najwcześniej datowanym ułamkiem kafla z badań w Owińskach jest fr. narożnika kafla pokrytego jasnobrązowym szkliwem z wyobrażeniem budowli (XV w.). Jedynie 9 fr. pochodzi z dużym prawdopodobieństwem z XVI w. (m.in. ułamek kafla wieńczącego - ażurowej koronki, narożnik kafla wypełniającego z przedstawieniem pod łukiem arkady). Wśród kafli pozyskanych w trakcie badań w Owińskach ponad ¼ stanowią wyroby XVII-wieczne. Są to : kafle wypełniające z ornamentem kasetonowym, egzemplarze zdobione motywem wypukłej półkuli, dwudzielne gzymsy, gzymsy zdobione tzw. karpiówką (rybią łuską), zwieńczenie z wyobrażeniem główki skrzydlatego putta, grupa kafli z popularnym w Wielkopolsce motywem bukietu kwiatów w wazonie. Wystąpiły także XVIII-wieczne kafle z ornamentem namalowanym niebieską farbą na białym tle (stylizowane motywy kwiatowe, ptaszek w medalionie, budowla). Pozyskano także grupę kafli z okresu późniejszego XIX-XX w.

During archaeological excavations held in 2011 by dr Barbara Stolpiak of Prehistory Institute at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, on the construction of a modern children recreation zone for the needs of pupils of Special School-Educational Center for Sightless Children as well as for citizens of Poznań county, on the area surrounding former Women Cistercian monastery in Owińska 457 tile fragments were gained. The tiles are mostly heavy destroyed and come from the so-called covering layers. Due to this fact the main hint for the dating can be decorations of the malar tile, characteristic for each single age. All of the tiles were produced of ferriferous clay, baked to brick color. Many of them show signs of usage in the form of blackening from smoke inside the chamber. The only tile in whole is a corner mantelpiece of the 18th century (Fig. 3:7). On back sides of several malar tiles of the 16th and 17th century the presence of texture marks was stated. A distinctive group in the collection are fragments of pot tiles, altogether 17 elements. The earliest dated tile fragment from research in Owińska is a corner tile fragment covered with light-brown enamel picturing a building (15th century; Fig. 2:1). Only 9 fragments come – with high probability – from the 16th century (among others a fragment of a topping tile – openwork lace, or the corner of a filling tile picturing an arcade beneath the arch). Among the tiles gathered during research in Owińska, more than ¼ are the 17th century manufacture. These are namely: filling tiles with coffer ornament, pieces decorated with convex hemisphere motive, bisected ledges, ledges decorated with the so-called carping (fish scale), topping picturing the head of a winged putt, tile group with the motive of a bunch of flowers in a vase, a very popular motive in Wielkopolska. There also appeared 18th century tiles with ornament painted with blue paint on white background (stylized flower motives, a bird in a medallion, a building). A group of tiles from later periods – the 19th and 20th century – was also gained.
