As one ages, disability and the inability to cope on one’s own grows. Help and the aid of others becomes necessary. Today, care for elderly persons in Poland (and throughout the world) is usually provided by family members. Some elderly persons live in social welfare assisted living facilities. Research shows that, to date, the only factor which determines the length of the stay in such a facility is age and the related health condition upon arrival.
