The article concerns an unknown history of a non-existent edition of P. Skarga’s “Żywoty świętych” by Joanna Duska and Anna Karasiowa on the basis of the edition from 1610. which was prepared for the PAX printing house. The hagiographic presentation was done by Priest Henryk Fros. PAX did not follow the agreement with the above mentioned scholars. The author of the present article is now working on the linguistic analysis of obroki duchowne (Skarga’s commentary of the lifes of the selected saints). In the course of the research the author has noticed and explained some imprecisenerss and lack of certain facts in the works on Skarga’s “Żywoty świętych” published in the 20th century. She also pays attention to the popularity of Skarga’s “Żywot świętych polskich”, which contains only 12 lifes of the saint, published by WAM (also prepared by Joanna Duska and Anna Karasiowa many years ago) and she postulates the preparation of a new scientific edition of the complete version of Skarga’s “Żywoty świętych”.
