Over the centuries, in Silesia, in the urban and private armories belonging to the aristocratic and noble families a great collection of old weapons was gathered. The vast majority of the weapons went missing as a result of the turmoil of war, particularly the Second World War. This publication presents the works of the Renaissance armourers related to Julius II (1528-1589), Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg-Wolfenbüttel, distinguished by external characteristics and decorations, such as monograms “HI” (Herzog Iulius), or referring, among others, to the events from the Bible and Greek and Roman mythology. The author describes the history of individual body armor in detail as well as other weapons and equipment, the circumstances of their creation and he accurately describes their appearance. He does not overlook the biography of the duke and his father - Henry II. The dispute between the father and son and the subsequent reconciliation and friendship became yet another symbol, affixed to the armor in the form of engraved decoration (heart and shaking hands). An important element of the work is to determine the place of creation and the dating of armor. He recognizes that the armor came from the Saxon school of armourers and it was not manufactured in the clan estates of Duke Julius. In Poland, in the Castle Armory in Pszczyna heterogeneous pieces of armor of Duke Julius II are stored, moreover, the author also lists other elements of the armor of the Duke, which survived until today in the country, among other places, in museums in Wroclaw and the capital city. He lists entire armor associated with the Duke recognized in European and American collections.

На протяжении столетий на территории Силезии в арсеналах городов, аристократических и шляхетских родов были собраны великолепные коллекции старинного оружия. Большая часть этого оружия пропала в водовороте военных событий, особенно в годы Второй мировой войны. В данной публикации представлены работы мастеров оружейного дела эпохи Ренессанса, связанные с Юлием II (1528-1589), герцогом Брауншвейг-Люнебург-Вольфенбюттель, классифицированные по внешнему виду и декоративным элементам как монограммы „HI” (Herzog Iulius), а также с библейскими мотивами и мотивами греческой мифологии. Автор подробно описывает историю разных видов лат и других элементов снаряжения и обстоятельства их создания, подробно описывает их вид. Не обходит вниманием также биографию герцога и его отца – Генриха II. Разногласия между отцом и сыном, а также их дальнейшее примирение и дружба стали еще одним символом, который наносился на доспехи в виде гравированного украшения (сердце и рукопожатие). Важным элементом исследования является определение места и даты производства доспехов. Установлено, что доспехи принадлежат саксонской школе оружейного дела, и они были выполнены за пределами родовых имений герцога Юлия. В Польше, в Замковом арсенале в Пщине хранятся разрозненные части доспехов Юлия II, кроме того, автор перечисляет также другие элементы доспехов герцога, сохранившиеся до настоящего времени в стране, в том числе в музеях Вроцлава и столицы. Перечислены все доспехи, связанные с герцогом, обнаруженные в европейских и американских коллекциях.
