The concept of competency management is considered as an important theoretical base that enables the linking together of the processes of strategy redefinition and personnel development in an organization. It is especially the issue of competency development that may provide new opportunities for organizations by delivering practical methods and procedures for stimulating the internal growth of intellectual capital. A procedure of competency development is presented and possibilities of its application as a tool for building an efficient training policy are considered.
