The article discusses criteria that should be taken into consideration when determining the order in which individual cases are introduced when teaching Polish as a foreign language. The optimal solution proposed by the author is to first teach the nominative case, then accusative, after that instrumental and genitive, and then only after these four cases should the instructor familiarize students with the locative, dative, and vocative cases. This order is stipulated by formal, semantic, and pragmatic considerations.
