Due to the necessity of raising the level of mastering English by Ukrainian students’ population which agrees with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages the Ministry of education and Science of Ukraine together with British Council Ukraine initiated the project «New Generation School Teacher» with the aim to introduce changes into the system of English language teacher training. The development of future EFL teachers’ social and informational skills and raising their professional competence are among the key objectives of the project. The realization of the project involves study visits to Great Britain and Uzbekistan which enabled the working team to attach growing importance to the forms of learning based on the use of online materials and activities such as web-enhanced, blended, hybrid and fully online ones. The purpose of the use of the e-learning course for future English language teacher training as the basis for organizing distance learning is investigated in the article. It defines the regulations which serve as the basis for the development of e-learning course and the stages of its development. The advantages for both students and teachers given by the functionality of managing educational resources of the educational portal are outlined. The author describes the types of electronic resources and constituent parts of e-learning course.
