Tekst prezentuje historię, rozwój, istotę i główne pola badawcze informatyki społecznej, ro-zumianej jako interdyscyplinarna analiza społecznego wymiaru wykorzystania technologii infor-macyjnych. W tym kontekście zaprezentowany został program studiów z informatyki społecznej uruchomionych w roku 2016 na Wydziale Humanistycznym AGH w Krakowie.

The paper presents the origin, development, the essence and major research fields of the so-cial informatics, regarded as the interdisciplinary analysis of the social dimension of the infor-mation technologies use. In that context the project of social informatics studies, launched at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków in 2016, was presented and discussed.
