Jedną z ciekawszych form powrotu Natury do miasta w skalach miejscowych jest tzw. zielona architektura, a zwłaszcza jej roślinna odmiana obejmująca budowle hybrydowe, u których podstaw stoi współistnienie świata przyrodniczego i budowlanego. Green architecture, zgodnie z definicją Encyclopaedia Britannica, to filozofia (architektury), oparta na dbałości o zrównoważone wykorzystywanie źródeł energetycznych, trosce o wtórne wykorzystywanie materiałów budowlanych oraz na szacunku i respekcie dla warunków środowiska naturalnego (w tym uwarunkowań krajobrazowych). Zatem, zgodnie z definicją, zielona architektura wcale nie musi być zielona – roślinna dosłownie. Mimo to przybiera wielokrotnie zintegrowane z roślinnością formy hybrydy. W takim ujęciu to co zbudowane i to co naturalne w kompozycji zostaje nierozerwalnie „splątane” – jedno wynika z drugiego oraz silnie oddziałuje tworząc spójną całość.

One of the most interesting forms of Nature’s return to the city in the local scales is green architecture, especially hybrid structures, as a coexistence of the natural world and construction. The Encyclopaedia Britannica defines “green architecture” as a philosophy (architecture) for the sustainable use of energy sources, caring for re-use of building materials and respect for the natural environment conditions (including landscape conditions). So by the definition, “green architecture” does not have to be green - vegetable literally. Although “green architecture” takes repeatedly an integrated hybrid form with plants. In this perspective, what is built and what is natural in the composition is inseparably “entangled” - one stems from the other and has a strong impact to form a coherent whole.
