The aim of this paper is to present the spatial diversification of Poland's rural areas from the point of view of the level of development of key economic functions. The authoress concentrates her efforts on the search for rural areas that are characterised by a high degree of the economic structure's deagriculturalisation and on the identification of communes which rely on the development of non-agricultural segments of economic activity as well as of communes where agricultural mono-functionality predominates clearly.
