The paper examines language errors, slips of the tongue and tongue twisters in Polish which involve liquids (/l/ and /r/) with a view to uncovering regularities behind this phenomenon and verifying several cross-linguistic claims concerning such deformations. The author first analyses frequently attested errors in single words and then reports on an experiment in which 25 teenagers were asked to read 15 tongue twisters abounding in liquids. It is shown that the majority of the examined claims remain valid but only in the case of spontaneous errors and not in artifi cially created tongue twisters.
