Příběh o cestě za svobodou, telling the story of Hamid, who was forced to escape from Afghanistan to Sweden. Presented in the article in more detail comic book became the apparent main subject of media reports. However, the recipient is not able to find out about it too much because it has become only a pretext for presenting content more favorable from the point of view of the media. Therefore, the main theme in most of the media information has become one of the tasks, telling of a fictional nuclear accident in the Czech Republic, which effectively raised a wave of criticism directed at the campaign, not only from the media, but also the most important politicians in the Czech Republic. Created by media selective and distorted image was thus subordinated to current events in the country and used in the political struggle.

The aim of this study is to present the story behind the media image recounting the final months in the life of the former primate of the Czech Republic, cardinal Miloslav Vlk. The analyses presented in this study are grounded in a corpus of texts consisting of 63 press articles published by Czech national dailies between 23 January and 26 March 2017. The image recreated on their basis has become extraordinary not only due to the fact of its very existence within the perception of the world promoted by Czech media, but also because of the way it was constructed and presented to the audience. One must not underestimate the role of the main protagonist of the analyzed image, who became one of its authors himself.

The paper presents an excerpt from the ongoing research on teaching Polish in Czechia. Its main focus is to analyse the Polish language textbook Jazyk polský, published in 1958 and written by Iza Šaunová, a teacher of Polish Studies in Prague. The paper discusses the structure of the publication, its content, and the teaching methods used. The analysis of all these elements leads to the conclusion that we are dealing with the first such publication in Czechia. It was comprehensive, and even today its fragments could still be used successfully in teaching. Thus, the presented textbook and its author provide insight not only into the history of teaching Polish in Czechia, but also into the Czech and Polish relations in the postwar times.
