On unemployment

100%
EN
One of the immanent features of the capitalist economy, i.e. incomplete employment, that is, unemployment is considered. In author's thinking, compatible with Karl Marx's views, there is no capitalist way of production without the existence of unemployment, the so-called reserve labour army. After reminding the different types of unemployment and its theories, and also the category of the organic composition of capital, he comes to the conclusion that the trends and types of technical progress by its distinctly anti-employment tendency lead to the intensification of the phenomenon of unemployment. An attempt at a statistical theory of formulation of the category of organic composition of capital is also presented. In the final parts of the paper some ways of combating unemployment were discussed, essential in the present situation of the Polish economy. These are:(1) so-called ecological agriculture, (2) the question of pensions and sick pensions, and (3) shortening of the work time.

The subject of this paper was presentation of the properties of the Method 'r', i.e. a method utilizing the sum of the terms of a real time series in calculating the average (mean) of the growth pace (rate). This property permits to use the Method 'r' and its tables as substitute for the Least Square Method in fitting the time series wherever an exponential-type function is to be adjusted to real (experimental) data. The solution of the problem was presented in two variants: a) real initial (basic) term and real sum of terms of the time series in question; 2) real final term and real sum of terms of the time series in question

Why Can There Be No Capitalism Without Unemployment?

EN
This article deals with the question: can there be a capitalist economy without unemployment? The authors answer is: the rate of unemployment can be higher or lower, but there is no capitalist way of management without the existence of unemployment. This is an immanent law of capitalism. It is proven from a historical point of view: worlds economic history did not note a country or period that would not have unemployment. But it is also proven on a theoretical ground making use of statements by K. Marx from the first volume of 'Capital' and stating a thesis that the process of capitalist utilization of accumulation and transforming it into a growth of productive system resembles a 'permanent' process of forging a 'movable' fixed capital into a higher absorption of capital.

In the paper, the feasibility of a statistical theory, here called 'numerics' (counting), being an expression of the Marxist notion of organic capital composition, was examined. To this end, the Laspeyres-Paasche theory of aggregation and construction of complex indices was presented for: a) two delimited periods (moments); b) a series (sequence) of monobasic, chain and cautionary-link indices. Conclusion was drawn that the definition of organic composition of capital was statistically reflected by the relation between the index of value composition of capital and the technical composition of capital. Finally, the question was put about the intellectual interaction between the Marxist reproduction schemes (and the theory of social capital formation in general) and the Keynes theory.
