The clash of the Radziejów-Płowce, of 27 September 1331, between the Polish army, led by Władysław Łokietek, and the army of the Teutonic Order was repeatedly the subject of historical analysis. Since the beginning of the 20th century Polish historians tried to find the battlefield, the size of the forces participating in it, course of the battle and make a military and political summary. The most controversial issue raised was its political significance. The vast majority of authors found the battle, tactically indecisive, but a strategic victory of Polish forces. Only a few like T. Korzon, S. Kujot, T. M. Nowak and J. Wimmer recognized it as a decisive victory for Władysław Łokietek, while a victory for the Knights was determined by S. Kaniowski, T. Jurek and A. Zieliński. The following article presents the views of Polish historians on the problem of military and political significance of the battle.

This article summarizes the achievements of Polish historiography in research on the subject of Hussite military and wars. Due to the weak interest in this subject among military historians, the author has discussed articles and monographs in which the events of the Hus-site wars were also acknowledged as a vital part of 15th century history. Analysing the re-search on all aspects of the Hussite movement associated with military history, we can notice a lack of permanent interest on the subject among Polish historians. Between 1850-1918, Polish historians were mainly discussing the foreign policy of Władysław Jagiełło and Witold towards the Hussites, often describing the progress of the conflict. On the other hand this problem wasn’t analysed at all during the interwar period, between 1918-1939. The end of World War II, also changed the interest of Polish historians on this subject, who took up discussions on social issues in Bohemia, related to the Hussite wars. The histori-ography of PRL dealt mainly with the relationships between social changes in the Kingdom of Bohemia and its impact on 15th century Poland. There were also researches on the polish in-volvement in the conflict, but the matter never received much attention, as well as the problem of Hussite influence on the polish warfare. The lack of such studies prevents us from receiving a complete analysis on the Hussite and Polish military, and filling this gap should be a priority for military historians in Poland.
