The paper depicts the findings of a study of readership conducted in 2005 on a non-representative group of 178 subjects – all of them sixth-form pupils. The study was designed to present the reading interests among children – the kind of reading lists, how they obtain books, the influence of teachers, librarians, parents, and peers in the choice of books. Some attempts have been made to answer the question whether an encounter with literary figures in computer games encourages young people to take a book about the same hero. The findings indicate a fairly good level of readership among the children under study, two direction of reading, and the average interest in topics. Girls read more than boys and the modern electronic media can help in education.

The paper “Family in Islam” is a theoretical discussion on the origin, structure, and function of the institution of family in Muslim culture. The author refers to the religious sources (the Holy Book of Islam – the Koran), theological, and philosophical commentaries of Muslim authors. She also uses culture studies, sociology of family, social geography and journalism concerning the Arab areas. The paper contains an introduction, saying that it is necessary to learn and conduct an interreligious dialogue. Then the foundation and main principles of Islam have been discussed. Against this background the author has shown the assumptions on which the Muslim family is based. The author describes the most frequent today problems with the structure, function, and family roles in the group under study. Eventually, some traits of the family in the culture of Islam have been highlighted.

The aim of the article is to present the concept of partnership in the family in the light of philosophy of ethical personalism. Definitions of partner and partnership are quoted that are formulated and used in social sciences, mainly in pedagogy, as well as those ones that are used in empirical studies of partnership in the family. Next, the main assumptions of personalistic philosophy are briefly presented, and partnership in family relations – between the spouses and between the parents and children – in its proper form is defined. The basic conclusions of the discussion contained in the article are statements saying that partnership is not the same as equality (sameness), and that existential inequality of partners is a chance to form an educational relation.

In this paper we present the results of a pedagogical experiment on the integration between natural and artistic education in primary school. Integration between environmental and art education was performed by the program “Art in Nature – Nature in Art”. The research was conducted in the period from October to February 2014. The studies involved 4 groups: two groups of pupils in 1st and 2nd classes of primary school and two groups of students of pedagogy – the future teachers of primary classes. It turned out that implemented program is suitable for widening the environmental knowledge of pupils through artistic activities. Students’ knowledge about natural environment and the interdisciplinary integration was expanded too, as a result of participation in the program “Art in Nature – Nature in Art”.
