The article characterizes the new tasks of the state, which result from the acceptan-ce idea of sustainable development. Also tried to show the Polish government activities related to the implementation of the strategy for sustainable development. In the paper was also devoted to attention to issues of ecological economics, economics of environ-ment which inspire politicians to explore new fields of activity for the state.
