W swojej twórczości literackiej, m.in. w dramatach, przedstawiał w artystycznym ujęciu idee polityczne i kulturowe, które głosił też w tekstach publicystycznych.

The aim of the article is to show the religious motives (refering to the Catholic religion and the heathen beliefs) functioning in the historical dramas of Jan Karnowski (1886-1939), Kashubian poet, publicist and dramatist. The article describes and analyzes the role of religious motives in five Kashubian dramas: Zópis Mscewoja, Libusza, Otrok Światowida, Kaszebi pod Widna and Wesele kaszubskie. The analysis proves that Karnowski shows in their dramas the role of religious motives in forming Kashubian ethnic identity.
The article reconstructs the picture of a priest present in the quotes included in the dictionary of a Kashubian language created by Stefan Ramułt at the end of the 20th century. It appears that it is a picture of a priest typical of a high culture, which is visible especially in comparison with the picture of a priest shown in "The dictionary of Kashubian dialects in folk culture" written by a priest Bernard Sychta.
A review of the text of the Psalter of St. Florian indicates the necessity for a revision of S. Rospond's theory of the obvious Mazovian features of the second and third copyists. It occurs that the second copyist certainly did not exhibit any Mazovian features while nothing certain can be said of the third one. Such conclusion seems to confirm another theory by S. Respond according to which there existed a Great-Polish original manuscript of the Psalter.

In the language etiquette of plays by Jan Karnowski (titled Zdpis Mscewója, Libusza, Ótrok Światowida, Kaszebi pod Widna, Wesele kaszubskie, Scvnanie kani and Czórlińsczi.) the references to God are present in two different manners. The references frequently result from the use of expressions which are present in the Kashubian etiquette, contemporary with the author, and whose component is the noun {Pón) Bóg meaning God. This concerns mainly the farewell expressions such as ostań z Boga, badz{ta) z Bógajedz{kój) (le) z Bógajachójta z Boga, as well as the gratitude formulas such as {Pón) Bóg (wóm) zapłać, Boże zapłacę. The greeting expressions Niech badze {mdze) póchwólony and Póchwólony are also of religious nature. The second type of references to God in the language etiquette of characters of plays by Karnowski is related to the fact that in the selected expressions of Kashubian etiquette the terms naming the Christian God are exchanged for names of gods present in other religions, e.g. Niechże Światowid wama i nama bezpiek daje, Niech nóm szczescy Bióli Bóg: Jedz z Allacha.
Jh. anzusetzen.
By standard titles we understand the forms of addressing other person used in statements, in which social linguistic and moral conventions prohibited the use of pronominal form: ty.
