The author of the article presents the role of divine mercy in the Christian life. The purpose of the paper is to present the teaching of Pope Francis on this truth of faith. The author points at the importance of select aspects of mercy in the Catholic Church. The article makes reference to the recently completed Jubilee Year of Mercy. It argues that Pope Francis’ teaching on divine mercy is a continuation of the whole teaching of the Church on this element of the Catholic faith.

This article is an attempt to present important points of theological reflection about Christian presence in social media. Research material covers contemporary Catholic Church documents and pope Ratzinger’s message on the Communication Day. Moreover, the author refers to the publications of selected media specialists. Research methodology includes contents analysis method and synthesis.

The article presents the analysis of Pope Benedict XVI’s teaching about the most important responsibilities of media. The research was carried out on the basis of the Pope’s messages for the World Social Media Day in the years 2006–2013. The analysis was conducted in the context of media-related literature. It discusses the responsibilities of social communication means which have been identified as a response to contemporary social phenomena related to the media age. The thesis is a summary of the Pope’s teaching in the period mentioned above in the field of media studies.

The research was carried out on the basis of the Pope’s messages for the World Day of Social Communication in the years 2014-2017. The analysis was conducted in the context of media-related literature. Media information tasks are a response to contemporary social phenomena related to media development, particularly of social media. The article shows relevance of the Church teaching in the field of social media theology.
