The article is dedicated to the foundation of historical-philosophical studies of the Kyivan Rus in Ukraine and outlines a range of subjects, personalities, problems, trends and gen res of research works, their intensity and periodization, as well as the roles of particular scholars in their development, based on the works on the history of Ukrainian philosophy published in Ukraine during 1950—1990s, in particular those concerning the period of the Ancient Rus.

Останнім часом історики філософії все більше звертаються до недавнього минулого — радянського періоду, відчуваючи потребу осмислити значний проміжок часу, в якому було закладено й сформовано основи сучасної академічної філософії України. Однією з провідних тем історико-філософських досліджень, яка зародилася у пізньорадянський період і стала невід’ємною частиною канону історії філософії України як у радянський час, так і за доби незалежності, є тема філософської думки Київської Русі. У цій статті ми спробуємо з’ясувати, коли, чому і як саме відбулося становлення й розвиток студій з цієї теми, а отже наскільки такі студії можна вважати феноменом радянської доби.
