The article is dedicated to biography of priest Ludwik Gabriel Trynkowski – ardent preacher, writer, philosopher and spiritual leader during November Uprising and also to a legend, which had been increasing around his person during his life and after his death. Legend of the priest has been introduced in context of romanticism, the period which after defeat in November Uprising had set a goal to commemorate the biographies of conspirators and martyrs for homeland.

Artykuł poświęcony jest biografii ks. Ludwika Gabriela Trynkowskiego – żarliwego kaznodziei, pisarza, filozofa i duchowego przewodnika w czasie powstania listopadowego, a także legendzie, która narastała wokół postaci bohatera za jego życia oraz po śmierci. Legenda księdza została zaprezentowana w kontekście romantyzmu – epoki, która po klęsce powstania listopadowego postawiła sobie za cel upamiętnianie biografii spiskowców i męczenników za ojczyznę.
