The article presents research reports covering the Mazovia region nurses’ physical welfare.The purpose of the research was to attempt at revealing and contrasting the physical welfare of the nurses and the data for Polish general population published in Social Diagnosis 2009 (Czapinski, Panek (Eds.) 2009, Conditions and quality of life of the Poles). The subject of social capital is a part of the study project conducted in 2010-2012, dedicated to multilateral analyses of the quality of life of nurses. It is an endeavor to make a diagnosis of the quality of life and individual traits of the nurses as a professional group, based on their own, subjective self-description. It had been initiated to contribute to the development of scientific thought devoted to the sources and characteristics of people’ welfare.

W artykule zamieszczono doniesienie badawcze dotyczące poziomu cywilizacyjnego w kontekście jakości życia pielęgniarek Mazowsza. Celem przeprowadzonych badań była próba i porównania poziomu cywilizacyjnego pielęgniarek z poziomem cywilizacyjnym Polaków zamieszczonym w Diagnozie społecznej 2009 i 2011 (Czapiński, Panek (red.) 2009, Warunki i jakość życia Polaków). Drugim celem było określenie przydatności wskaźnika poziomu cywilizacyjnego w dalszych syntetycznych analizach wyjaśniających jakość życia badanych. Zagadnienia poziomu cywilizacyjnego stanowią element autorskiego projektu badawczego zrealizowanego w latach 2010-2012 pt. Wielowymiarowa analiza jakości życia pielęgniarek. Badanie jest próbą diagnozy jakości życia i cech indywidualnych grupy zawodowej opartą o jej własny, subiektywny samoopis.

The article describes the research report on the level of civilization in the context of the quality of life of nurses in Mazovia. The aim of this study was to compare the level of civilization of nurses to the level of cilization of Poles set out in „Social Diagnosis” in 2009 and 2011. The second objective was to termine the usefulness of the level of civilization in the subsequent synthetic studies explaining the quality of life. Issues civilization level are part of the author’s research project co nducted in 2012-2012 „Multivariate analysis of the quality of life of nurses”. The study is an attempt to diagnose the quality of life and individual characteristics of a profession based on its own subjective opinion.
