Managing social identity, reconstruction of identity, constructing own biography from scratch is something that a person with acquired disability must cope with. People with inborn disability create their identity of a disabled from the beginning. They are prepared/raised/educated to take the part of a person with disabilities in the society. Can a person who acquired disability experience such accelerated adaptation? It is disability that will become the central category which will determine their social identity. In the article the author raises the problems connected with setting up the line between personal and social identity, between satisfying the need to be unique and the need to belong, between defining a person through the prism of stigma (Erving Goffman) and perceiving them as representative of a specific type of personality (Alfred Schutz). How deep is the mark of a person with disability that this disability imprints in their life is best known only by the people who live with it. How difficult is the management of social identity or the reconstruction of biography is best know by them as well. What is the identity created or reconstructed in the process of social stigmatisation going to be like? Is it possible to come out of the process of stigmatisation?

The author of the article indicates to the essence of the individual approach to a child, and especially to a child with a disability. The author argues that individualization in Polish school exists only on the declarative level, in fact, a child is treated objectively, as a representative of an unspecified group of pupils. Human rights, which is inscribed subjectivity are not respected in Polish schools, the right to individual approach in school as well as subjective treatment are present only at the theoretical level in the Act on the Education System, regulations, or in the core curriculum. Legal reality in any dimension does not fit into the school reality. These are two different worlds in which pupils, their parents and teachers were lost. Individualization in the upbringing and education in the current education system in Poland is not a possible solution to realize widely. The educational system in which a teacher, student and parent are instrumentalized is not able to provide the possibility of subjective activity and being the subject to participant of education.
Autorzy stawiają tezę o kluczowej roli nauczyciela, którego zadaniem jest rozpoznanie potrzeb rozwojowych i edukacyjnych wychowanków i uwzględnienie tych różnic podczas realizacji procesu dydaktyczno-wychowawczego. Badania zostały przeprowadzone w 2015 i 2016 roku. Jednakże podczas realizacji procesu kształcenia i wychowania prowadzą zajęcia zgodnie z programami nauczania jako główną formę pracy, stosują metodę podającą i nauczanie frontalne. Nauczanie frontalne uniemożliwia indywidualizację w edukacji i wychowaniu.

Individualization of education and training is an important issue in school as well as in in educational discourse and law of education. The aim of this article is to analyze the issues of individualization in education and upbringing and investigate whether this process is carried out in kindergartens and primary schools. The authors argue that the key role of a teacher, whose task is to recognize developmental and educational needs of pupils and take into account these differences during the didactic and educational process. The study was conducted using a self-report questionnaire. The sample consisted of 110 teachers from 12 educational institutions located in Warsaw. The research was conducted in 2015 and 2016. The results demonstrated that that teachers know what individualization is and know how to personalize education and training. However they realize process of education and as a main form of work using frontal teaching. The process of individualization according to the participants is dependent on the number of students in the class and conditions that the school creates. It can be concluded that individualization is not carried out in kindergartens and schools, however teachers try to introduce elements for individualization. Conducting courses using the frontal teaching prevents the individualization of teaching and upbringing. The teachers’ personality, knowledge of methodology and their attitude toward pupils have a great impact on education.
