The article contains a description of the case study of an eleven-year-old boy with the central auditory processing disorders. The case study method is analytical. In the etiology of central auditory processing disorders, the most frequently spoken of auditory perception disorders include impairments of the receptive (hearing) function and disorders of sound discrimination. As therapeutic observations confirm, it is therefore interesting to examine auditory attention (selection and intensification of sound stimuli proccesing) and assessment of the ability to discriminate acoustic speech sound.

The paper presents the results of the assessment of auditory functions in a group of fifty-nine children aged seven to ten. The tests were conducted on the diagnostic-therapeutic APD Medical platform, which enables carrying out the following tests: visual and auditory reaction test, adaptive one-syllable test for speech comprehension in noise, frequency pattern test (FPT), temporal resolution and auditory perception test (Gap Detection Threshold), adaptive frequency resolution test (DLF), and digital dichotic test (DDT). The participants were qualified for diagnosis on the basis of audiometric tests and surveys. The obtained results were compared with the values of normative higher auditory functions tests of the diagnostic-therapeutic APD Medical platform.

Diagnosis of developmental coordination disorder can be accomplished by evaluating the narrative skills that reflect the knowledge of the world included in the human mind, what is more – the way of cognitive world reprezentation. The need for rapid responding to stimuli, inscribed in the phylogenetic development, is associated with the germination of different systems of information processing. The article contains accomplished by evaluating the narrative competence by pupils of developmental coordination disorder.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki oceny funkcji słuchowych w grupie pięćdziesięciorga dziewięciorga w wieku 7–10 lat. Badania przeprowadzono na platformie diagnostyczno-terapeutycznej APD Medical, która umożliwia wykonanie: testu reakcji słuchowej i wzrokowej, adaptacyjnego, jednosylabowego testu rozumienia mowy w szumie, testu sekwencji częstotliwości, adaptacyjnego testu rozdzielczości czasowej układu słuchowego, adaptacyjnego testu rozdzielczości częstotliwościowej oraz rozdzielnousznego testu liczbowego. Uczestnicy zostali zakwalifikowani do diagnozy na podstawie badań audiometrycznych i ankietowych. Uzyskane wyniki zestawiono z wartościami normatywnymi testów wyższych funkcji słuchowych platformy diagnostyczno-terapeutycznej APD Medical.

Theoretical outline relating to cluttering as to the unit that manifests the central speech disorder was combined with the results of researches conducted within this range among children with ADHD. The aim of these was to obtain the answer to the question related to the occurrence of the disorders of the fluency level and the speech pace in ADHD together with the opinion of coexisting disorders of the segmental and suprasegmental levels. It was used in the experiment. `Test syllable test for the evaluation of speech disfluency` by Zdzisław Marek Kurkowski was used in this experiment.

W eksperymencie wykorzystano „Próbę sylabową do oceny niepłynności mówienia” Zdzisława Marka Kurkowskiego.

Tematem artykułu są trudności w czytaniu i pisaniu występujące u dzieci z rozwojowymi zaburzeniami koordynacji ruchowej. Podstawę analizy tych problemów stanowią badania przeprowadzone przez jedną z autorek artykułu na ośmioosobowej grupie ośmiolatków z neurologiczną diagnozą rozwojowych zaburzeń koordynacji. Przedstawiono, w jaki sposób charakteryzuje się te zaburzenia w klasyfikacji ICD-10 i ICD-11. Zgromadzony materiał badawczy pozwolił dokonać analizy trudności w czytaniu i pisaniu rozpatrywanych wieloaspektowo. Wskazano główne przyczyny problemów w czytaniu i w pisaniu, a także opisano typowe trudności, z którymi borykają się uczniowie z rozwojowymi zaburzeniami koordynacji ruchowej.

The article discusses reading/writing difficulties in children with developmental motor coordination disorder. The analysis of the problems is based on studies conducted by one of the authors in eight-person group of eight years old children of developmental coordination disorder. It presents the manner in which these disorders are characterized in the ICD-10 and ICD-11. The collected research material allowed the analysis of difficulties and the problems and errors made in reading and writing – was the multifaceted assessment of reading/writing difficulties. It indicates the main causes of problems in reading and writing, and also describes the particular course of attaining this ability and typical difficulties encountered by pupils with developmental motor coordination disorder.

The article presents and emphasises any early actions and planned activities taken to support the development of children who are in the early stages of development visible symptoms of atypical brain development (ABD). The methods and forms of early therapeutic intervention and its impact on children’s development are discussed on the selected case studies. It should be pointed out that the need for multidisciplinary diagnosis of children and then the consequences of the lack of specialised holistic therapy, which should be implemented are also indicated in the article. What is more, the article presents a proposal for “Therapeutic work program for children with ABD”, containing physical development, visual perception and spatial orientation, speech and thinking development and improvement of reading skills. The above-mentioned program is a good example of supporting the early development of children from infancy period till a primary school period.

The authors discuss the results of research carried out to present reading skills of pupils in the primary school. Taking into account theoretical background, used to prepare the research methodology, the most significant factors contributing to the reading process are analyzed. There are two dimensions of reading skills that are involved in the research: decoding and reading comprehension of the text. The range of decoding provides the assessment of reading speed (treated as a number of words read within one minute), correctness of reading (perceived as proportion of the read word in a correct way compared to all read words per minute), and a type of mistakes made by children during reading.

Atypical brain development is a term that can be used to address the full range of developmental disorders that are found to be overlapping much of the time in any sample of children. The authors present ideas that are, in part, a response to the neurodevelopmental disorders and psychomotor, social and speech disorder in children.
