Krakow Museum of Science and Industry was in operation since 1868. For just under a century of its activity, it promoted science and contributed to crafts. In 1908, bookbinders’ cyclic education started here. It took place in the model Bookbinding Workshop. The activities of the workshop as well as the program and methods of courses determined the quality of the craftsmanship on Polish soil. This article discusses the workshop’s activities and the methods and objectives of the bookbinder education process. It is noteworthy to mention that they did not differ much from the ones that we currently employ to educate artists and designers. The information is a source of knowledge about the bookbinding industry’s dying profession.

The article takes a closer look at several selected libraries. Their interiors are packed with not only books on industrial design, but also objects considered good examples thereof. The discussed libraries also reveal good design in their architectural concept, utility scenario, visual communication system and typography. Through this comprehensive approach, the offer of the library goes beyond the pattern of just lending the collection and making it available. It becomes a place that is ideal for presentation, as well as education, involving industrial design.

W artykule przedstawiono przykłady kilku wybranych bibliotek. W ich przestrzeniach znajdują się nie tylko książki o wzornictwie przemysłowym, ale również przedmioty uchodzące za dobre przykłady wzornictwa przemysłowego. W omawianych obiektach bibliotecznych, design ujawnia się też w koncepcji architektonicznej, scenariuszu użytkowym oraz systemie komunikacji wizualnej, typografii. Dzięki takiemu kompleksowemu podejściu, oferta biblioteczna wykracza poza schemat wypożyczania i udostępniania zbiorów. Staje się idealnym miejsce zarówno do prezentacji, jak i edukacji w zakresie wzornictwa przemysłowego.
