The paper discusses Polish farmers' needs in the scope of different forms of institutional support under the circumstances of new opportunities for agriculture after Polish accession to the European Union. Spatial range of investigations covers a macro-region with small scale farming. Analysis concern this forms of support as well as institutions which, in farmers opinion, can effectively contribute to transformation and development of farms.

W opracowaniu dokonano charakterystyki potrzeb rolników w zakresie rolnych form wsparcia gospodarstw rolnych ze strony otoczenia instytucjonalnego w nowych uwarunkowaniach dla rolnictwa, jakie wynikają z członkostwa Polski w Unii Europejskiej. Zakres przestrzenny badań obejmuje makroregion rolnictwa rozdrobnionego. Analizie poddano te formy wsparcia oraz instytucje, które zdaniem rolników mogą najskuteczniej przyczynić się do przekształceń i rozwoju gospodarstw.

The main thesis of study is recently formulated on theoretical ground conception of leadership of bank activity, defined as 'relationship banking' that can be realized effectively by local banks. In Poland this kind of banks are represented by cooperative banks. In this context, the aim of the study was an attempt to verify whether cooperative banks prefer functioning based on close contacts with customers, and therefore realize the concept of 'relationship banking'. The tool of this verification were opinions of bankers as well as customers of cooperative banks, i.e. farmers and small rural businessmen.

W opracowaniu dokonano analizy znaczenia kredytów bankowych w strukturze zewnętrznych źródeł finansowania rolnictwa, w warunkach członkostwa Polski w Unii Europejskiej. Badania wykazały, że kredyt bankowy pozostaje wciąż ważnym źródłem finansowania gospodarstw rolnych. Zainteresowanie rolników kredytami jest coraz częściej powiązane z absorpcją funduszy UE wspierających inwestycje i rozwój gospodarstw rolnych.

Importance of bank credits in the structure of external sources of financing agriculture, in conditions of Polish membership in the European Union is analysed. The findings show that bank credits are continually the most important source of financing in agricultural farms. Farmers’ interest in bank credits is more often related to the absorption of European Union funds supporting investments and development of farms.

W opracowaniu dokonano charakterystyki stanu i znaczenia gospodarczego spółdzielni agrobiznesu w Polsce i innych krajach Unii Europejskiej. Przeprowadzono także analizę głównych kierunków przekształceń spółdzielczości wiejskiej w starych krajach członkowskich UE uznając, iż po integracji podobną drogą przemian będzie zmierzać również spółdzielczość agrobiznesu w Polsce.

An analysis of main directions of transformation of rural cooperatives in the old member states in the European Union also has been performed, because after the integration presumably the agribusiness cooperatives in Poland will follow a similar pattern of development
