In the article on the basis of numerous scientific sources the analysis of the professional-pedagogical competence of a teacher of the higher educational institution of economic specialization has been defined as a necessary condition of effective didactic process in the institution. Professional experience of a high school teacher is based on implementing the certain features that require a variety of theoretical knowledge, practical skills. In the terms of renewal of higher education, rapid socio-economic changes in the labor market, increasing social demands to the competitiveness of economists the demands on professional and pedagogical competence of a university teacher of economics have increased. Therefore, we should clear determine the professional and pedagogical competence of the economics teacher, its structural components and conditions of its development. Modern theoretical-methodological approaches to the teacher’s professional competence have been analyzed. The professional-pedagogical competence structural components and professionally important qualities and skills of a teacher have been investigated in details. It has been pointed out that there are the following structural components of the professional-pedagogical competence of a teacher of the higher educational institution of economic specialization: functional, methodological, informational, social and personal competences. The above mentioned components of the specialists’ professional competence are the aims of their vocational training in higher educational institutions. Possessing them the specialists are able to develop important qualities and skills during their life. The requirements to the personality of a teacher have been presented in the article (main and additional ones). As a result of the investigation the author presents the definition of the professional-pedagogical competence of a teacher of the higher educational institution of economic specialization. The perspectives of the further research were defined, and namely substantiation of the organizational-pedagogical conditions of the professional competence of a teacher of the higher educational institution of economic specialization and comparative-pedagogical analysis of Ukrainian and foreign models of teachers training.
