Article is an attempt of answer for the question about reasons of today’s longing, in day of following scientific and technological revolutions, for mythical stories. As the author judges, Professor Tolkien is right when he stresses, that at least one kind of mythical stories – fairy tale – grants two or three important functions for its recipient. Firstly, it is about justice – evil is punished, good is indemnified. Secondly, it is about consolation (eucatastrophe) in the completion of story: that means that it is Good, not only in moral or ethical meaning, but also on physical plan. Thirdly, it is about order in the Universe; in the Universe there is somebody (or something), e.g. law, who takes care of harmonious (i.e. ethically and also morally regularized) course of all events. The return for such a vision of world exactly today can be strange, and cause impression of complete anachronism. However, it is about finding something that can be called – because of the lack of a better term – Harmonia Mundi. Our place in it is definited very well. Conviction that it is real was popular in our world more or less 1200–700 years ago. Clive Staples Lewis, who described it, called it Medieval Model. Such a model assigned all pople to the Universe order and it explained all other problems: scientific, theological, philosophical, and practically-vital. The article shows too, that this task in literature was realized by epos; nowadays its functions has been taken over by fantasy, but more widely – literature, which roots can be found in tradition of romance.

The article treats of a literary work adaptation for an opera libretto purposes by analysing sort and effect of text operations done by the author of the libretto and the composer. The libretto of the opera Eugene Onegin composed by Tchaikovsky is the exception in the history of music and literature in respect of treating the original text. The lyric is based on excerpts from the literary archetype left in the original wording: significant musical episodes and essential stages of a psychological drama connect with the poems of Pushkin. The effect of libretto analysis done by the author of the article is the afterthought on intertextual correlations when convention, linkage system and logic of the composition are considered.

In the Russian culture confusion of the senses was very often connected with Petersburg — the city of contradictions and anomalies that cause visual and auditory hallucinations. Intertextual analysis presented in this articleallowed to present the motif of raging senses manifested in three extremely different works, which are connected, however, by certain common characters: Petersburg and Herman from The Queen of Spades.

The document Iuvenescit Ecclesia issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith draws attention to the existence in the Church of two different gifts: hierarchical and charismatic. The former refer to her institutional dimension, the latter to the charismatic. Mutual existence and dialogue of two different entities is always a challenge. Each of them brings something of its own and characteristic for itself. Each should also take into account the existence of the other with its features as well as mutual dependencies and circumstances of the encounter. It may lead to tensions and difficulties in mutual relationships. Thus, the question of how to strive to make this relationship harmonious is still valid and of great importance. We are trying to take up this challenge in the case of hierarchical and charismatic gifts in the Church and to propose a path to the aim of their mutual harmonious relationship.

The article deals with the still relevant interdisciplinary research movement, which chose the relation between music and literature as the object of its analysis. The book by Libor Martinek and Małgorzata Gamrat, which is the result of cooperation between a literary scholar and a musicologist, is the main basis for and contribution to this discussion. Following the path set by P. Scher, these authors have found a methodological dimension, on which issues of literary text functioning in the music sphere are located, and on the other hand, attempts to define a so-called literary text’s musical aspects.

This article deals with issues connected with defining the libretto in the light of genre classification and the function that libretti perform as part of musical compositions. Libretti, which are marginalized by both literary theory and musicological research, are considered to be dependent texts even though most libretti are compositionally complete and can be analyzed by using the concepts of literary theory. At the same time, although the libretto is not an independent genre, it has its own subgenres which are identified based on the subject matter, function and structural properties (e.g. tragedy, comedy and farce).

The article raises a voice in a discussion on dividing practical language learning classes into specific aspects of language (lexis, grammar, phonetics). The guiding principle of foreign language teaching should be the action oriented towards the overarching and essential objective of language education – developing students' communication skills, i.e. the ability to take language actions that are appropriate to a given situation and acceptable in a given culture.Teachers should not limit their teaching efforts to transferring their knowledge about language subsystems since this knowledge does not guarantee the development of skills and habits of using memorized material, and thus effective communication. A trap of the accepted system may be a situation where the individual lecturers, being limited to their own faculties, will have a sense of exemption from the obligation to watch over the end result. Therefore, according to the author of this article, the conviction that performing proper work within one's scope (lexis, grammar or phonetics) guarantees a didactic success is fatal and erroneus. Along with the seemingly correct implementation of the curriculum, it may give disproportionately poor results considering the teacher's and student's work. It is then important to reflect on some of the key principles and solutions which will enable to successfully achieve a goal, that is improving and integrating particular aspects, and as a consequence effective teaching, which is the subject matter of the following article.
