Supporting the decision-making in unstructured problems, such as tasks related to developing a competitiveness strategy, is difficult and inefficient without access to expert knowledge. However, not all companies, for example SMEs, have the ability to use their resources. There is a need to replace the experience and skills of experts by knowledge obtained through the analysis of data from the company and its environment. This data is usually incomplete and inaccurate, which affects the precision of decisions made. The methods of developing competitiveness strategies that are known from literature do not use available data mining techniques or fuzzy inference techniques taking into account the uncertainty of data. The proposed method, which integrates the above techniques, is an attractive alternative to the use of qualitative or qualitative-quantitative methods. The verification of the method was carried out on a group of SMEs providing medical services.
In the perspective of the ever-growing and evolving requirements of the modern customer, there is a justified need for the better, faster and highly personalized matching of marketing activities for him/her. This challenge becomes even more difficult to implement when the client is a business entity and the marketing activities concern the B2B market. The solution, or at least an alleviation of the problem, seems to be the tools of marketing automation. However their use requires specific competences of marketing employees and an awareness of the possibilities and limitations from managers. This article presents the results of a survey conducted in a group of 100 Polish B2B market companies, the purpose of which was to identify the level and scope of applicability of marketing automation tools, characterize their advancement and the typical approach to their maintenance and further development. In terms of solutions functionality, the results of this analysis were referred to the state of the American business market. The summaries prepared on the basis of the analysis results can help in mapping further research, as well as in preparing dedicated and specialized courses and training for Polish entrepreneurs.
The results presented in the article are the first Polish analysis of startups, which are considered as a source of innovation and which are gaining in importance in the country’s economy. In order for the country to efficiently support this group, more insight into the most important features characterising it, for instance location, used legal forms, employment and its forms, sources of financing and other resources, propensity to export or sources of innovation must be gained. Thus, the conducted study was aimed at identifying and characterising the population of economic entities considered as Polish startups according to applied criteria. In order to do so, a database of those entities was created, an original research questionnaire was prepared and a nationwide survey was conducted in collaboration with the Startup Poland foundation. Subsequently, a segmentation analysis was performed in order to isolate conspicuous classification groups and to identify important features in each group. The presented research results constitute the beginning of regular analyses in that scope.
