The paper presents how important to the organisational culture in academic libraries is compliance with the ethical principles. The issues related to observance of the code of ethics for librarians, computer ethics, cyberethics and netiqette were introduced. The role of the managerial staff in promoting principles of ethics amongst subordinates was shown.

W artykule przedstawiono jakie znaczenie dla kultury organizacyjnej w bibliotekach akademickich ma przestrzeganie zasad etyki. Omówiono zagadnienia związane z przestrzeganiem zasad kodeksu etyki zawodowej bibliotekarza, etyki komputerowej, cyberetyki oraz netykiety. Wykazano rolę kadry kierowniczej w propagowaniu zasad etyki wśród podległego personelu.

Storing the produced knowledge and managing it with the use of new technologies is a big challenge for libraries. The transformation of research libraries, as a continuous adaptation of services to the changing needs of users, requires, apart from modern IT tools, the reconstruction of the organizational culture. The theory of the organization (the method of change management) indicates the important role of leaders, who should have a vision of the future of libraries, taking account of how higher education functions as a whole and the ability to positively influence the staff while achieving new goals.
