The article presents the results of archaeological excavations carried out in relation to the planned construction of the S-3 motorway at site 252 in Karnin. The investigations revealed six different phases of human activity in the area. Relics of ill-developed settlement include traces of the presence of groups from the Neolithic, from the period of the Lusatian culture and the Early Middle Ages. One of the most interesting findings is a deposit of bronze artefacts dated to the Early Bronze Age. The largest number of features was connected with the Roman influence period and the burial ground in use at the time. The youngest relics of human activity are artefacts which seem to have had a use in agriculture.

The site Deszczno 15 (S-3 – no. 27) was discovered in 1986. In connection with the planned construction of the road S-3, in December 2007 and January 2008, the area of the site witnessed rescue archaeological excavations, which embraced a total area of 25 ares and offered the possibility to acquire 192 relics. The archaeological excavations revealed 27 features, which were dated on the basis of the acquired ceramic material to: early Iron Age, Roman influence period, Early Middle Ages and the early modern period. Six features were not determined chronologically given the lack of found artefacts.
