The subject of links between remuneration and phases in the development cycle is rarely approached in Polish literature. Studies primarily concentrate on identifying the impact of the development cycle phase on the makeup of the remuneration portfolio. The study results as presented in this article identify the interdependence between organization strategy its personnel strategy, including remuneration strategy, its objectives, and its instruments with phases of the development cycle in Polish companies. They also point to the use of deferred income as well as the stimulating and destimulating aspects of its application as related to the development cycle phase.

The results of research carried out among 71 enterprises are discussed in the paper. It was confirmed that stimulation of employees to more efficient work and their retention in the organization belong to priorities of pay strategies

One of the essential development trends in rewarding employees is the increasing role of rewards as tools of the strategic management within the enterprise. In compliance with such an idea, the strategy of rewards should support the strategy of the organization as well as it ought to be coherent with its objectives, enable the enterprise to achieve better results and consequently assure the increase in its competitiveness. The main objective of the research was to find out the answer whether the strategic priorities of rewarding established by the enterprises existing on the Polish market are compliant with their strategic activity targets.
