“Estancamiento paradójico”: la ciencia política en los tiempos de la Revolución Bolivariana

El supuesto de que la democracia permite el desarrollo de la ciencia política es casi un lugar común en los estudios sobre historia y desarrollo de la disciplina. Mientras que la línea común es suponer que la dictadura interrumpió abruptamente el desarrollo de la disciplina en el Cono Sur, otros sostienen que permitió su auge y desarrollo. El presente artículo toma como punto de partida esta segunda línea interpretativa, suponiendo además que el contexto importa y las condiciones de producción de la disciplina afectan el desarrollo mismo de la ciencia política. En este sentido, se espera mostrar que el contexto político ha incidido en el desarrollo de la ciencia política en Venezuela, tanto en su auge durante la IV República, como durante su proceso de “estancamiento paradójico” en el periodo de la Revolución Bolivariana.ABSTRACT The assumption that democracy allows the development of political science is almost a commonplace in studies on the history and development of the discipline. While the common line is to assume that the dictatorship abruptly interrupted the development of discipline in the Southern Cone, others argue that the dictatorship allowed its growth and development. The present article takes as its starting point this second interpretative line, assuming that the context matters, and the production conditions of the discipline affect the development of political science. In this sense, it is expected to show that the political context has influenced the development of political science in Venezuela, both in its peak during the Fourth Republic, and during its process of “paradoxical stagnation” in the period of the Bolivarian Revolution.
