On 5-8 November 2009 the 4th Central-European Forum of Doctoral Students of Art History entitled Art History in the Age of Globalisation took place at the seat of the Institute of Art History at the University of Wrocław. Of all the papers sent in for the conference forty-five texts were chosen, including thirty-eight papers from Poland and seven from abroad. Their topics concerned methodological problems, containing issues referred to by the doctoral students in their theses. The papers were divided into topic-chronological group. After each series of the presentations the audience and the participants had a possibility to discuss them. The topic sections were moderated by the lecturers from the Institute of Art History. Fifteen-minute presentations referred to history of art in its classical sense, treated as a chronicle of separate historic-artistic phenomena, history of architecture and building or painters, sculptors and architects’ oeuvre. Many doctoral students presented papers concerning the interdisciplinary matters, what indicates that history of art is a discipline open to wide circles of knowledge. A group of doctoral students from the Mikołaj Kopernik University in Toruń presented theses concerning techno- logical and conservatory issues. There were also papers on art theory and related to it phenomena. Another numerous group of doctoral students introduced papers on contemporary art and current events in art and culture.
