Mobile telephony is commonly used, not only for speech transmission, but also for data transmission. Data transmission through GSM networks creates new opportunities for using laptops, palmtops, mobile telephones as new platform for reaching the Internet. The creation of application and services for mobile devices, as well as doing business and information exchange via these services has been defined as m-commerce.

Telefonia komórkowa jest powszechniej stosowania, nie tylko do transmisji mowy, ale również do transmisji danych. Komputery przenośne, palmptopy, dzięki możliwości transmisji danych za pomocą sieci GSM z dowolnego miejsca, stały się nowymi urządzeniami dostępowymi do sieci Internet. Tworzenie aplikacji i serwisów dedykowanych dla urządzeń mobilnych, oraz realizowanie transakcji i przepływ informacji dzięki wykorzystaniu tych serwisów, zostało określone jako pojęciem m-commerce.

This system well illustrates need of fast, cheap student service in administration matters. Author made a comparison with others systems which have are more frequently applied in high education.

Artykuł opisuje jeden z wielu systemów do internetowej obsług i studenta w wyższych uczelniach. Powstał on przy współpracy Akademii Górniczo - Hutniczej oraz Wyższej Szkoły Zarządzania i Bankowości w Krakowie. System ten dobrze ilustruje potrzebę szybkiego i taniego „obsłużenia" studenta w sprawach administracyjnych. Autor dokonał porównania systemu na tle innych coraz powszechniej stosowanych w szkolnictwie wyższym.
