In the contemporary linguistic research, the colour system occupies a special position. Today’s culture space is supersaturated with colours, which are important semiotic components of human functioning and their relationships with other people. This paper attempts to describe colour semiotics from the point of view of the human’s development period. The author tries to find an answer to the question whether colours can also determine the age frame of a person. First, the relationship between colours and time is analysed. The suggested description of the stages of life through the colour spectrum shall allow answering the question how the respective stages of human life are determined by the colours assigned to them by the culture.

The article presents an attempt of structural description of Computer slang in Russian and Polish. Materiał dates from newest dictionaries, slang articles, Computer magazines and the Internet. Russian and Polish computer jargon is a result of process of borrowing mainly from English computer terminology. Adaptation of vocabulary in Russian language consists in structual-phonetic transformations of a foreign word, so that it resembles a word from Russian stock of lexemes. Polish computer jargon in more considerable degree is based on clean borrowings from English. In both languages apart from suffixed words and semantic derivation, semantic metafory, clipping and abbreviations play important role. Many units are marked stylistically. It concerns ironic, contemptuous or even low-class words.

The material to this article is based on the newest comparative dictionaries of Russian and Polish languages and also on other dictionaries, mostly explanatory dictionaries. Coloristic compa- rative constructions present a very interesting subject of linguistic research, from the one hand as a convenient instrument to research on human perceptions categorization. On the other hand- as a wide cultural and evaluative-estimating material. Some of the coloristic comparative expres- sions are characteristic for certain style of language only. A particular place in the article is taken up by the analysis of the semantic distribution of the analysed constructions in Russian and Polish language. With regard for it, the research material is divided onto three groups. The first group is constituted by constructions having an unlimited distribution, which can define with regard for the color any subject of an extralinguistic reality. The second group is assembling the constructions with a limited cohesion, in which group comes to reducing the potential objects to some class of expressions only. To the last group, can be included coloristic colorful expressions, defining with regard for the color, a semantically very limited group of words only. A frequency of using these or other comparative expressions is not directly dependant on a semantic distribution of the discussed constructions.

In recent years, linguistic studies have laid great emphasis on the semantic side of linguistic expressions. The subject of this paper is an attempt to introduce the term of “circular motion” in common verb patterns and set phrases in Russian and Polish. The description concerns the problem of creating metaphors based on circular motion verbs. The paper distinguishes between four metaphor types which have been presented by the comparative method between Russian and Polish.

Materiał do niniejszego artykułu pochodzi z najnowszych rosyjskich słowników językowych, a także ze słowników dwujęzycznych, zwłaszcza naukowo-technicznych, ponieważ - jak podkreśla autor - forma „под ключ”/ „pod klucz” jest szeroko używana we współczesnej terminologii technicznej i najbardziej modna w sferze leksyki budowlanej. Szczególne miejsce w artykule zajmuje analiza porównawcza rosyjskich i polskich form wyżej wymienionych konstrukcji przyimkowych, w których wyraźnie ujawnia sie tendencja ku oszczędności środków językowych. Spostrzega się stopniowe osłabienie (rozluźnienie) związków syntak- tycznych form „под ключ”/ „pod klucz” z innymi leksemami. Podobna parcelacja i wyodrębnienie rozluźniają łańcuch syntagmatyczny zdania i uwalniają formę od przymusowych związków z innymi wyrazami.

A condolence letter is characterized by conventionality and it has a stereotypical composition.Apart from words of sympathy expressing support and understanding the analysed materialincludes such contents which are not directly connected with the given literary genre. Thesecontents considerably violate the compositional features of the genre and constitute interestingresearch material presenting the picture of the Poles and Poland in the eyes of the Russians afterthe president’s plane crash in Smolensk in 2010. The picture of the Polish nation is positive whichis partly connected with the given literary genre requiring positively evaluative expressions. Thepresented picture is to a large extent based on the ethnic, historical-political, religious and socialcontexts. It is only the historical-political context that contains the elements with the negativeconnotations, but at the same time it seems to be the starting point for reevaluating and buildingnew relationships between nations

This article continues to discuss issues taken up in the material published in ”Acta Neophilologica” in 2014. So far, the attention has been turned to the meaning and the scope of use of the Polish and Russian definition of obituary; it has been emphasized that the Russian literature takes a different approach to the terms obituary and condolences; a closer look has also been taken at the first obligatory components of condolence entries, such as the initial formulas which are characteristic of the genre examined and the methods of identification of the message addressees. This part discusses the remaining components of condolences, i.e. the onomastic identification and the characteristics

The paper aims at presenting the problems of how color concepts function in a graphic spatial model and using these concepts in foreign language didactics. The material has been presented on the basis of the Russian word белый, with the use of Russian-language lexicographic data. The paper is comprised of two integral parts. Part I features a theoretical presentation of the problems of the meaning of a lexical field with the inclusion of semantic center and peripheries. Part II presents the methods of the concept’s graphic representation based on the technology of linguistic data visualization with the use of the so called directed graph, taking into account the graph’s colorization and geometrization for the purpose of a clear demonstration of linguistic data in the didactic process. Visualization may serve as a material that enriches and supplements the teaching of foreign languages. The paper also discusses the concept of realization of a simplified, though — we believe — didactically accurate visualization of the lexeme polysemy. Moreover, we included the description of research, which complete lexicographic methodology with special computer software.
