Wpływ dużych przedsiębiorstw na rozwój regionalny na przykładzie województwa wielkopolskiego

The issue of the impact of strategic investors, particularly foreign, on regional and local development, in the last few years has become an important subject of studies in economic geography and spatial management. However, it is not easy to assess plainly the results of localization of large companies: the data are difficult to get and interpret. The aim of the article is to: 1) shortly explain three concepts explaining impact of large companies on regional development: multiplier effects, embeddedness and corporate social responsibility (CSR), 2) analyze in a spatial and branch context the largest companies (in terms of sales’ revenues) in Wielkopolska voivodeship in 2011 (the list is based on the ranking “Lista 500” “Polityki”), 3) describe an example of impact of large company – Volkswagen Poznań on regional development. The analysis showed that among the 50 largest companies in Wielkopolska voivodeship the most represent food industry (11) and retail and automotive sector (8 each). The research proved that the largest companies concentrate in the center of the region – in Poznan agglomeration, where 28 out of 50 largest enterprises (56%) are located. It was observed that 22 of the investigated enterprises were awarded for declaring activities in the field of corporate social responsibility, which comprises various actions aimed at improving local community life. The empirical example of Volkswagen demonstrated ways in which large company can contribute to the regional development.

W pierwszej części artykułu zostały przedstawione trzy koncepcje teoretyczne ukazujące wpływ dużych przedsiębiorstw na rozwój regionalny: efektów mnożnikowych, zakorzenienia oraz społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu. W drugiej części analizie przestrzennej i pod względem rodzaju działalności zostały poddane największe przedsiębiorstwa w województwie wielkopolskim. Podmioty wyznaczono pod kątem przychodów ze sprzedaży na podstawie ogólnopolskiego rankingu „Lista 500” „Polityki”. W końcowej części artykułu opisany został wpływ największych przedsiębiorstw na rozwój województwa wielkopolskiego na przykładzie Volkswagena Poznań.

Clusters as a kind of networked economic links are a significant form of co-operation of competing enterprises. Their role in the economies of Polish regions keeps growing, so there appear ever newer possibilities of obtaining means to help finance their establishment and development. This article presents a classification by type of the economic clusters operating in Wielkopolska voivodeship at the close of 2012. Also listed are projects which were granted financial assistance in support of clusters from funds available under regional policy.

Klastry jako forma sieciowych powiązań gospodarczych są jedną z ważniejszych metod współpracy konkurujących ze sobą przedsiębiorstw. Ich rola w gospodarkach regionów Polski rośnie, a wraz z nią pojawiają się nowe możliwości pozyskania środków na dofinansowanie ich tworzenia i rozwoju. W artykule dokonana została klasyfikacja rodzajowa klastrów gospodarczych funkcjonujących w województwie wielkopolskim pod koniec 2012 r. Wskazano również projekty, na które przyznano dofinansowanie na wsparcie klastrów ze środków finansowych dostępnych w ramach polityki regionalnej.

The aim of this article is to present the results of a research concerning transborder cooperation that takes place in the Russian-Finnish borderland of the Karelia region. The analysis was based on empirical data gathered through a questionnaire method, conducted in three Finnish towns: Joensuu, Kitee, Ilomantsi. The obtained data enabled the authors to identify the character and intensity of various activities undertaken on the external border of the European Union. As a result, at the end of the article, future prospects of formal and informal integration and cooperation between  Finns and Russians are enumerated and described.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań dotyczących współpracy transgranicznejw Karelii, regionie położonym na pograniczu fińsko-rosyjskim. Analiza zjawiska została oparta na danych empirycznych zgromadzonych metodą badań terenowych, które były wykonane w trzech fińskich miejscowościach: Joensuu, Kitee i Ilomantsi. Na podstawie ankiet i wywiadów przeprowadzonych z przedstawicielami lokalnych społeczności ukazano charakter oraz intensywność różnych aktywności podejmowanych na zewnętrznej granicy Unii Europejskiej.
