STUDENT TEACHING INTERNSHIPS IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE CLASSES IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. RESEARCH CONCLUSIONS

The article presents the analysis results concerning the individual evaluation of student internships in Russian language classes in an elementary school. Ninety-nine teachers’ opinions on the completed individual student internships were analyzed. The research has proved that according to these opinions students are prepared to work at school. The analysis has also revealed that some aspects of preparation for the teaching profession require improvement. These are, among others, such issues as the use of new technologies in the classroom, the development of students’ intercultural competence, the character of teaching second foreign language. The author concludes that the questionnaire form should be modified.

Celem artykułu jest podjęcie dyskusji na temat uzyskiwania kwalifikacji do nauczania dwóch języków obcych oraz wykorzystania zdobytej akademickiej wiedzy i umiejętności w pracy w szkole. Autorka przedstawia również wyniki badania przeprowadzonego wśród czynnych nauczycieli posiadających kwalifikacje do nauczania języka angielskiego i rosyjskiego. Przygotowanie optymalnych rozwiązań w tym obszarze wydaje się istotne ze względu na potrzeby rynku pracy związane z zatrudnianiem w szkołach nauczycieli, którzy mogą nauczać na różnych poziomach edukacyjnych dwóch przedmiotów.

The purpose of these considerations is to reflect on acquiring qualifications to teach two foreign languages and the use of the acquired knowledge and skills in school practice, as well as the presentation of the results of a survey conducted among active teachers qualified to teach English and Russian. The search for optimal solutions in this area seems to be important due to the needs of the labor market, related to the employment of school teachers – doublesubject teachers.

The purpose of this article is to present the conclusions of the analysis of the "Survey of the Russian Language Olympiad participants" about the planned areas of studies by high school students and about the schools which support the development of students in terms of their abilities and interests. The research has shown that every third participant in the regional qualification for the Russian Language Olympiad would have opted for language studies. There is a noticeable downward trend, however, in the choice of philological studies within three years. Students from 37 schools in the Podlaskie Voivodship qualified for the second level of the Russian Language Olympiad, among them there were 61% of students representing schools outside of Białystok.
