This article attempts to define sex tourism on the example of Kenya, where female erotic tourism has been developing since years. This paper provides readers with the definition of sex tourism, what is a background to further considerations. Then, the author is going to conductdetailed sex tourism’s analysis in Kenya, which is divided into four phases: exploration, involvement, development and consolidation. In following part of article, the author is trying to create a profile of potential sex tourist and to analyze the economical side of phenomenon. Those elements may be identified, on the base of quoteddates, as highly influential on the local communities.

: The present article covers a characterization of those people who act in a widely understood sex-business. In the first order, an attempt was undertaken to define a person who is defined as a commercial sex worker (CSW). Considering the legality or illegality of prostitution in individual countries, those employed in sex business are defined in different manners; they also possess various rights. In the further part of the deliberations, a characterization was provided of those people who prostitute themselves including the motives of their involvement in sex business. In the final part of the study, an attempt was made to assess the quantity of the supply of sex tourist services. This issue is particularly debatable, among others due to the fact that in many countries, no statistics are provided in the scope of the numbers of people who prostitute themselves; furthermore, not all of these people can be counted as those who operate in sex tourism.

W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę osób działających z szeroko rozumiany seksbiznesie. W pierwszej kolejności podjęto próbę zdefiniowania osoby określanej jako commercial sex worker (CSW). Ze względu na legalność, bądź nielegalność prostytucji w poszczególnych krajach, zatrudnieni w seksbiznesie są inaczej definiowani, przysługują im też odmienne prawa. W dalszej części rozważań przedstawiono charakterystykę osób prostytuujących się, a także motywy ich zaangażowania się w seksbiznes. W końcowej części opracowania dokonano próby oszacowania wielkości podaży usług seksturystycznych. Zagadnienie to jest szczególnie problematyczne, m.in. ze względu na fakt, iż w wielu krajach nie prowadzi się statystyk w zakresie liczby osób prostytuujących się, a ponadto nie wszystkie te osoby mogą być zaliczane jako działające w seksturystyce.
